A lady has strongly criticized Daniel Bwala following his recent interview with Mehdi Hasan.
In a video reacting to the interview, the lady said she did not find the exchange amusing, describing it instead as “absolutely revolting.”
She expressed disappointment that Bwala, a senior lawyer, appeared to dismiss statistics about Nigeria’s challenges by describing them as mere opinions of citizens.
Lady speaks on government’s failure
The critic argued that the government has failed in its primary responsibility of ensuring citizens’ welfare and security, referencing provisions in Nigeria’s constitution.
She also lamented the continued killings, kidnappings, and displacement of communities across the country.
According to her, public commentators and political actors should remain consistent in their principles, especially after previously criticizing the government before joining it.
Her words …
“I did not find that interview funny i did not find it in the slightest bit funny i found it absolutely revolting. i did not see anything to laugh about with such incompetence with someone shining his teeth with his veneers and waxed eyebrows i did not find it funny in any sense of the word Nigeria has failed, this administration has failed, president has failed. It’s disheartening to find that Daniel Bwala is actually a senior lawyer. It is so disheartening to find that. He kept saying that these are just the opinions of Nigerians whenever he’s presented with statistics, completely disregarding the fact that it’s stated right there in the same constitution that you’re talking about, Section 14, that the primary responsibility, the primary purpose of a government is welfare and that’s security. So Nigeria has failed. It has failed. Hundreds of people being killed, hundreds of people being abducted, Communities displaced. How is it that you can sit there with a clear mind, clear conscience? I don’t even think they have a conscience at this point. How can you sit there and try to justify what is happening in this country? Are you so blinded by worldly affiliations that you cannot see how sickening it is How saddening it is that a family is going to hold a burial for somebody that is alive because they have renounced all hopes of saving him. I just don’t get it. I really don’t. How is it that you build your reputation on speaking truth to power and you get outraged or defensive when people are just expecting consistency? It goes without saying. There’s no way you can criticize, condemn the government, actually say facts, say the truth, you know, Monday. And then because you, I don’t know, lobby for an appointment or you get it and they use that to shut you up. you know it’s it’s happened far too many times you know we can get into a list of of of people but um that’s not what this video is for it’s about this particular interview i really loved the fact that that lady if you haven’t watched it a lady had asked a question about how we can trust you now with what you’re saying when all that you had said when you were on the opposition is completely different from what you’re saying now saying you do not recall saying that you you don’t remember saying such saying that you’re retracting your statements as kissing basically responsibility of public commentators and political actors is to hold that power to account and not to abandon your principles because you are now part of that power if communities are still being attacked citizens full on safe the government has failed it’s filled in its obligation aside from that honestly i keep thinking to myself how they justify it and how is it how is it worth it the people dying the blood on your hands how do you And you can sleep, you can eat, go about your day, live your luxurious life, buy your cars, buy your jets, buy your islands, and it’s completely unfazed.”
