A Nigerian lady has shared her emotional experience online after unexpectedly meeting her former secondary schoolmate, who is now working as a dispatch rider.
The story, shared on TikTok by user @siza_kelvin, has sparked widespread reactions on social media.
Unexpected Reunion
The lady recounted that she was shocked when the dispatch rider delivering her package turned out to be her ex-classmate.
In her post, she said: “Nothing prepared me for seeing my secondary school classmate as the dispatch rider who came to deliver my package.”
The brief reunion left her feeling deeply saddened.
From Bright Student to Dispatch Rider
According to the lady, her former classmate was considered one of the brightest students in school, with teachers expecting him to become a medical doctor.
She explained that seeing him in his current role was not only surprising but also heartbreaking, as he appeared frustrated and demoralized.
Explaining Her Post
After receiving backlash online, the woman clarified that her post was not meant to shame her ex-classmate.
She stated that her intention was simply to express her shock at the contrast between his academic potential and his current situation.
In her words: “The misconceptions in the comment is just weird, this post was simply to express my shock seeing an old time classmate in such situations, where he has to go through so much and even risk his life daily to earn a living, despite being one of the brightest in the class back then and all our teachers would say he will end up being a medical doctor. I was simply surprised and he vented to me on how frustrating it could be sometimes and how he wishes to be in a better position in life and he seemed really depressed. That’s the reason I expressed how I felt with an ‘heartbreak’ because it’s quite heartbreaking that in the society we live in today, mere intelligence is not enough to get you to where you’re going and it’s just sad, read to understand before creating a narrative.”
