A young Nigerian lady has stirred reactions online after sharing the story of a close friend who once identified strongly as a feminist but later abandoned her own principles to get married.
Taking to X, @itzchristunique recounted that her friend often bragged about not needing a man, insisting she could handle life independently while investing heavily in her businesses.
According to her, the friend also vowed never to marry unless a man agreed to her strict conditions on equality and commitment.
She revealed that their disagreement over the subject had strained their relationship, only for her to get shocking news from the friend.
From feminist to full housewife
“I once had a feminist friend who strongly believes she can do all things without the help of any man.
She was well doing enough and had many investments.
One day I told her that she will definitely fall in love with one man and then be under him. She told me that will never happen.
Asked her why and her reasons was that she’s not ready to be committed to any man and being a feminist, she believes in equality. So if she’s to marry, the man must sign up to her terms too..
I told her she will never get a man that will agree to such and if care is not taken, she will end up not married. My words provoked her and she stopped talking to me.
This year February, she messaged me with her wedding invitation. The first thing I asked her was, “did he accept your terms? She laughed and said, “Christy let’s forget about that, currently am moving from Abuja down to PH were he based”
Up till now,am still wondering who’s terms was that 😂
(My girl is currently pregnant and I will soon be an Aunty)”

iamqueenese penned: “Moral of the story: don’t trust Feminists. They will mislead you and go submit to the authority of a man.”
Saodami1 stated: “Everybody needs their own person. She has not met the right person that’s why she was saying all those things. Besides she was being vicarious back then too.”
