A Nigerian lady identified as @miss_sarahkayy has shared her heartbreak after mistakenly recharging another person’s electricity meter with ₦300,000.
The entrepreneur, who works as a braider, took to TikTok to express her frustration over the incident that left her both shocked and helpless.
“IKEDC Said They Can’t Refund or Reallocate” – Lady Laments
According to her, she immediately contacted the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) to report the error and seek a possible reversal.
However, the company reportedly informed her that there was nothing they could do about it since the token had already been generated for a different meter number.
In her words, “I just mistakenly recharge someone else’s meter with ₦300k and IKEDC said they can’t refund or re-allocate.”
Frustration Over “Rigid System”
Expressing disappointment, the young lady wondered why the electricity system lacked flexibility to help correct genuine mistakes.
She added that the electricity token she purchased would be useless to her unless she gave it to the owner of the wrong meter she mistakenly recharged.
She wrote, “The funniest thing is, the token will waste if I don’t give it out to the owner of the wrong meter number. Why is the system so rigid?”
Netizens React
The video, shared on TikTok, sparked mixed reactions from users who sympathized with her ordeal.
Many expressed shock over the huge loss, while others advised her to double-check meter numbers before making future payments.
Some even tagged IKEDC, urging the company to find a way to assist her.
