A Nigerian lady has gone online to share about the late evangelist, Reverend Dr. Uma Ukpai, revealing what he used to do every January during the New Year celebration.
“A Privilege to Come From His Village”
The lady, identified as Chinyere Uzy, said she hails from the same village as the late preacher and considers it a great honour to come from his hometown.
Taking to Facebook shortly after news of his passing broke, Chinyere expressed her admiration and described Uma Ukpai as a man who lived a life of worship and gratitude.
Annual Village Crusade Every January 1st
According to her, the evangelist used to organize a large crusade in their village every January 1st.
The event, which became a yearly tradition, brought together indigenes from far and near to celebrate the New Year in God’s presence.
In her words: “Being privileged to come from the same locality as Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, he organizes an annual crusade in the village every 1st of January, bringing us together to worship God. This tradition has been constant since I was born till now. People come back to the village for New Year celebration just to attend this crusade.”
“Onu’m Juru Na Ekele” — His Favourite Song
Chinyere added that the late evangelist always sang one particular song at every gathering — “Onu’m juru na ekele,” which means “My mouth is full of praises.”
She said the song became a highlight of every crusade and reflected his deep gratitude to God.
She wrote: “He is often heard singing ‘Onu’m juru na ekele’ (My mouth is full of praises) at every gathering. A true worshipper of God. A man that knows how to worship God. A heart of gratitude. Rest in Power, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai. You will be greatly missed, Daddy.”
