A 31-year old lady, Loveth Akpan, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing her neighbour’s two children to sell.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 8th December, 2025, at No. 165B, Ikorodu Road, Ikorodu, Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the lady stole Gift Samuel ‘F’ 6years old and Esther Samuel,F, 4years, belonging to her neighbour, one Samuel Anietie and wanted to sell them to an unknown buyer.
However, before she could sell the victims, she was arrested by the Police in the area and transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Command.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Loveth Akpan “f on the 8th day of December 2025, at about 1330hours, at No. 165B, Ikorodu Road, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did steal two children named Gift Samuel ‘f’ 6years old and Esther Samuel, children of one Samuel Anietie ‘m’, your neighbour and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 277 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
