A man has triggered heated reactions online after criticising what he described as the growing materialistic mindset among young women, saying many now measure their value by the kind of hotels and apartments they visit.
In a widely circulated post, the man lamented that some women now equate class, status and “big girl” energy with how many lodges, apartments and luxury hotels they have entered.
“Girls’ mentality now be say to take know how girls don pass them depends on the kind of lodge you have entered, how many apartments you don enter. That’s what they use to measure if you be big girl or you dey among,” he said.
“If she starts video, just know say she don finish”
The man further claimed that some women rush to record videos immediately they enter luxury spaces because such experiences are rare for them.
“Any girl you carry go lodge or apartment and she bring out camera make she start video, just know say this one don finish. If your babe dey do video, you know why? Na because na once in a while she dey see that kind place.”
He compared the behaviour to people over-celebrating Christmas because it comes once a year.
“Why people dey celebrate Christmas dey carry am for head? Because na once in a while dem dey see chicken smile. Everyday na Christmas if you no guide.”
“Lifestyle pressure is oppressing other girls”
He added that when men take their partners to expensive hotels in Lagos, it creates unnecessary pressure for other women who now feel “oppressed” by lifestyles they cannot afford.
According to him, many women focus on enjoying luxury experiences without thinking about long-term stability.
“These girls no even dey think how dem go take buy car. How dem wan take get the car sef? Na trek, bike bike bike, until trailer hit you.”
