The La Liga clash between Granada and Athletic Bilbao was abruptly stopped after a fan suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest in the stands.
The match took a somber turn, with Bilbao leading 1-0 courtesy of an early goal from Inaki Williams.
Just nine minutes later, Bilbao’s goalkeeper Unai Simon received information from home fans about a fellow supporter experiencing what appeared to be a cardiac arrest.

Despite their best efforts, the fixture was eventually stopped in the 18th minute.
La Liga later confirmed the tragic death of the supporter, while holding back specific details about the victim’s identity.
The players remained on the pitch for approximately 22 minutes as the situation unfolded.
The match’s officiating referee made the difficult decision to call off the match, and the league expressed condolences for the loss.
Meanwhile, Granada fans chanted the name of Bilbao’s goalkeeper Unai Simon, in recognition of his compassionate response when the fans called his attention.
