Kwankwaso hosts Igbo elders, says partnership with Peter Obi remains strong

Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso says his political partnership with Peter Obi remains strong and productive amid growing collaboration within the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Kwankwaso made the comment after hosting a delegation of the Igbo Elders Consultative Forum at his residence in Abuja.

The delegation was led by S. N. Okeke, chairman of the Ohanaeze Council of Elders for the 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, former governor of Enugu state.

According to Kwankwaso, the delegation expressed appreciation for the growing relationship between him and Obi under the NDC.

He said the elders pledged support for the Obi/Kwankwaso ticket and assured the movement of strong electoral backing across the South-East and other parts of southern Nigeria.

Kwankwaso said: “The elders expressed strong appreciation for the growing and cordial partnership between myself and His Excellency Mr Peter Obi under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

“They pledged their unwavering support for the Obi/Kwankwaso ticket and assured the movement of massive electoral backing across the South-East and the wider Southern region.”

Kwankwaso said he appreciated the visit and welcomed the opportunity to exchange views with the delegation on issues affecting the country.

The former Kano governor said discussions also touched on the historical political relationship between northern Nigeria and the South-East.

“Reflecting on the historic North-South East political dynamics, I expressed delight at the excellent and productive relationship I continue to enjoy with HE Peter Obi.

“I also reaffirmed my total commitment to the OK Movement and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), emphasising our resolute determination to deliver victory for the party in the upcoming elections,” he added.
