Kayode Tops UNILORIN 2025 Graduating Class

A graduate of the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Ilorin, Miss Elizabeth Omolara Kayode, has emerged as the Best Graduating Student for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Miss Kayode, who completed her five-year programme with a First Class Honours degree in Civil Engineering, distinguished herself with an impressive Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.95.

She received multiple prizes from the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN), who represented the University’s Chancellor and Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman (CFR), during the 40th Convocation Ceremonies held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the University Auditorium.

Her recognition drew thunderous applause and a standing ovation from dignitaries, faculty, students, and guests who gathered for the ceremony’s highpoint.

Another star of the event was Dr. Ameenah Abiola Kopada, who graduated with Distinction in Medicine and Surgery to emerge as the Best Graduating Student in the College of Health Sciences.

Dr. Kopada’s brilliance earned her an astonishing 22 academic prizes, sponsored by individuals, groups, and organisations, making her one of the most decorated graduates of the convocation. She also received a standing ovation from the audience in recognition of her outstanding achievements.

In addition to the duo, several other graduands were honoured with prizes and awards in different categories, to the delight of their colleagues, families, and well-wishers.

Speaking on the achievements, the Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr. Kunle Akogun, described the two awardees as “proud ambassadors of UNILORIN”, commending them for making their families and womanhood proud.

Mr. Akogun also expressed gratitude for the successful conduct of the week-long convocation ceremonies, while paying glowing tributes to the graduands for justifying the University’s reputation for excellence.

“Unilorites are generally brilliant and hardworking,” he said, urging students to emulate the dedication and discipline exemplified by the honourees.

He expressed confidence that more UNILORIN students would achieve record-breaking academic feats in the future, citing the University’s quality staff and world-class facilities as key factors driving its continued success.
