The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kaduna South Senatorial District has dissociated itself from recent endorsements of Sen. Sunday Marshall Katung and Hon. Daniel Amos, both of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), by a certain Mr Billy Otis.

In a press statement issued on Sunday and signed by the Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Tafa, the party described the action of Otis as unauthorised, misleading, and entirely personal, stressing that he acted without the mandate of the APC leadership in the zone.

“Mr Otis attended the said event strictly in his personal capacity.

“He was neither a representative of the party’s leadership in the Zone, nor did he act at its instance,” Tafa read.

The party further clarified that Otis was not a registered member of the APC, and as such, lacked the standing to speak on behalf of the party or its members.

The statement was in response to media reports quoting Otis as declaring support for Katung and Amos, both elected officials under the PDP, for the 2027 General Elections, allegedly on behalf of APC members in Southern Kaduna.

Describing the development as “unfortunate,” the APC zonal leadership reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, party discipline, and due process, especially in the selection of candidates for elective positions.

“The APC is immensely blessed with competent and qualified members who possess the requisite credentials to effectively represent our people.

“We cannot, and will not, look outside our party for potential candidates,” the party declared.

Tafa warned that activities capable of undermining party unity and integrity would not be tolerated, and urged members to adhere strictly to the party’s official communications and disciplinary guidelines.

“The party leadership will not stand idly by and allow the name and platform of the APC to be used for unauthorized personal transactions or to advance individual agendas,” he added.

The APC reminded its members that loyalty remains the bedrock of party membership, and advised anyone unable to maintain that loyalty to “honourably exercise their right of association elsewhere.”
