JUST IN: Senate finally ‘unseals’ Natasha Akpoti’s office after suspension

The office of embattled Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has finally been unsealed by the National Assembly.

The development comes after months of tension following her suspension from the Senate.

Office Unsealed Amid Security Presence

The unsealing was carried out by the Sergeant at Arms of the National Assembly, assisted by combined security personnel.

The senator had been barred from her office since March 2025 when the Senate imposed a six-month suspension on her.

The suspension was a consequence of her alleged misconduct after protesting the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20, 2025.

Suspension Ends, Legal Hurdles Remain

Although Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension concluded in September 2025, she has faced challenges resuming her legislative duties due to ongoing legal matters and opposition from the Senate leadership.

A week prior to the unsealing, the senator had formally written to the upper chamber notifying them of her intention to resume work following the completion of her suspension.

Her request, however, was initially rejected by the National Assembly.

The unsealing of her office signals a potential return of the embattled senator to her active duties.
