The Abia State Government has sealed a campaign office linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign group, Renewed Hope Partners (RHP), in Umuahia, the state capital.
Campaign Office Targeted
The affected office belongs to the Renewed Hope Partners, the campaign structure promoting President Tinubu in the South East.
The initiative is reportedly led in the region by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu.
Workers Shocked by Sealing
An official of the RHP, who requested anonymity, said he arrived at the office to resume work only to discover it had been sealed without prior notice.
Reason for Sealing
Notices pasted at the entrance of the Ojike Street office by the Ministry of Lands and Housing cited a violation of Abia State tax laws.
The statement read: “This property is in contravention of Sections 41 and 100 of the Abia State Tax Law (Codification and Consolidation), Law No. 7 of 2020. And it’s hereby sealed. Any person, including the owner/occupier, neighbour(s) or passer(s) by, who attempts to unseal this building is in contravention of the Abia State Tax Law No. 7 of 2020. Be warned. Keep off.”
