Jonathan-Obi Alliance: Former President and Labour Party Leader Unite in Abuja Sparking 2027 Speculation

Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, disclosed the visit in a post on his X handle, where he shared photos from the meeting. While he did not reveal details of their discussions, he described it as “fruitful” and centered on national issues.

“Today in Abuja, I met with my very dear elder brother, statesman, and leader, former President Goodluck Jonathan,” Obi wrote. “We had a fruitful closed-door meeting and discussed the state of our dear nation.”

The meeting comes amid growing calls for Jonathan to join the 2027 presidential race, though the former president has yet to publicly comment on the matter.

Both Jonathan and Obi have also been subjects of speculation within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with reports suggesting the party is courting them ahead of the next general elections.
