Jigawa Police Arrest Three, Seize 23,000 Illicit Drugs

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected drug dealers and seized more than 23,000 illicit drugs in coordinated operations across parts of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Tuesday in Dutse. He said the suspects were apprehended during joint intelligence-led raids conducted by police divisions in Garki, Fagam, and Maigatari on October 18, 2025.

The suspects were identified as 60-year-old Muhammad Garba of Mekiya Village in Kano State, 55-year-old Musa Garba, and Hudu Ma’ilu from Guneri Village in Niger Republic. According to police, the trio had long been on the command’s watchlist for their alleged roles in cross-border drug trafficking.

Adam disclosed that a total of 23,944 assorted illicit drugs were recovered during the operation. The haul included 13,505 units of Exol, 1,583 units of D5, 3,572 Tramadol tablets, 565 Diazepam capsules, and 2,469 bottles of Rubber Solution.

He added that officers also recovered several quantities of cannabis—both in block form and 886 wraps—alongside other narcotics such as Sock and Die, Akurkura, and 340 units of Farin Malam.

The police spokesperson warned that the circulation of such substances poses a major threat to the youth and communities across Jigawa.

“The suspects are currently in police custody undergoing investigation and will be charged to court upon completion of preliminary inquiries,” Adam stated.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to eliminating drug trafficking and abuse in the state, urging residents to support law enforcement efforts by providing credible information.

Adam quoted the Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammed, as commending the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and dedication.

Muhammed reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance stance on drug-related crimes and encouraged citizens to promptly report any suspicious activities to the police.
