Jigawa Government Prioritises Women and Children’s Welfare

The Jigawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the socio-economic welfare of women and other vulnerable groups, declaring readiness to collaborate with individuals, donor agencies, and development partners.

Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hadiza Abdulwahab, made the pledge on Friday during a meeting with officials of the Society for Women Development and Empowerment in Nigeria (SWODEN) at her office in Dutse, the state capital.

Abdulwahab said the government is determined to provide opportunities for women, children, and disadvantaged groups through various empowerment initiatives.

“Jigawa State government is ever ready for collaboration with individuals and philanthropic organisations toward supporting our vulnerable women across the state,” she stated.

The commissioner urged transparency and fairness in the selection of programme beneficiaries to ensure that initiatives reach all parts of the state. She further assured SWODEN of the government’s full support in delivering impactful projects, particularly in rural communities.

SWODEN’s Jigawa Team Leader, Adam Muhammad, said the group’s visit was aimed at seeking cooperation with the ministry in its mission to empower women through skills training and to support children’s education. He disclosed that the organisation had already begun projects in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.

“This partnership is important for the empowerment of women and the educational advancement of children in our communities,” Muhammad said.

Stakeholders noted that Jigawa’s openness to partnerships highlights its commitment to social development, women’s empowerment, and improving the living conditions of its most vulnerable citizens.
