Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has responded to the surprise resignation of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), adding another layer to the developing political situation in Osun State.
On Tuesday, Davido reposted the resignation announcement on his X account and simply wrote “Jeje…”.
The short remark quickly attracted attention from fans and political observers, who saw it as a calm response amid rising tension.
Governor Adeleke Officially Leaves PDP
The governor’s resignation letter, dated November 4, 2025, was addressed to the PDP chairman of Ward 2 in Ede North.
In the letter, Governor Adeleke highlighted ongoing unresolved crises within the party’s national leadership, stating that the persistent issues made it difficult for him to remain under the current structure.
His reaction from Davido came less than 24 hours after the letter began circulating online.
Resignation Creates Uncertainty Ahead of 2026 Primary
The development has caused confusion within the PDP, particularly as the party prepares for its 2026 governorship primary.
Some members in the Osun chapter have argued that the primary should be postponed until the internal crisis is addressed.
However, the PDP National Working Committee has insisted that the exercise will go ahead as planned.
The situation is further complicated because Governor Adeleke was the only aspirant who had paid for and submitted the nomination form before stepping down.
Questions Surround Next Political Move
Governor Adeleke’s future political platform remains unclear, with growing speculation about where he might seek re-election.
Party stakeholders have described the resignation as a major setback that could affect the PDP’s performance in the upcoming election cycle.
