A 24-year-old tertiary student in Koforidua, the capital of the Eastern Region, has opened up about her struggle with an intense dependence on séx, saying she finds it difficult to go even a single day without it.
Speaking during a live radio phone interview, Gifty shared details of her situation.
“I’m not sure how it all began, but I think it started after my ex-boyfriend, who was my first sexual partner. Before that, I was actually afraid of séx. After that experience, I began developing unusual desires, which I initially thought were normal. We could be intimate up to four times a day until things eventually fell apart and we broke up.
Even in school, I’ve been involved with many male students in my class and even some lecturers. Honestly, I can’t explain how it happens. The slightest touch from a man can trigger these feelings, and it has led me into multiple encounters,” she said.
When asked about protection, Gifty noted that she takes precautions. Despite her strong urges, she insists on the use of condoms to protect herself from infections.
“I even buy some myself and keep them, so if a partner doesn’t have one, I provide it. I understand the risks involved, so I try to protect myself. Sometimes, I even pay the men,” she revealed.
Gifty further explained that she has sought help from several pastors, but her condition has not improved.
“I know this situation is serious, and I’ve tried seeking spiritual help, but nothing has changed,” she added.
She also alleged that some medical professionals she consulted took advantage of her vulnerability.
According to Gifty, her situation has not negatively impacted her academic performance.
“I wouldn’t say I’m among the top students, but I consider myself fairly good academically,” she stated.
Gifty chose not to reveal the identities of the doctors involved. She also admitted that her parents are unaware of her situation, fearing they would judge or stigmatize her, which could worsen her emotional state. However, she confessed that the issue continues to weigh heavily on her.
