According to a report by Daily Post News, on Sunday, March 08, 2026,Phrank Shaibu, Senior Special Assistant to Atiku Abubakar on Public Communication, has criticised Daniel Bwala following the presidential spokesman’s recent appearance on Al Jazeera.
Shaibu raised concerns about the manner in which Bwala expressed himself during the international television interview, pointing to what he described as noticeable grammatical mistakes that attracted attention on social media.
The discussion followed Bwala’s interview with broadcaster Mehdi Hasan, during which several clips from the programme circulated widely online.
Shaibu said the interview had generated debate among viewers who closely followed the exchange between Bwala and Hasan.
According to him, the discussion became a subject of scrutiny after short video segments from the broadcast were shared across different social media platforms.
These clips highlighted moments in which the presidential spokesman attempted to respond to questions raised during the programme.
The presidential aide focused particularly on what he described as a grammatical error made during the interview.
Shaibu noted that Bwala referred to “a water” at one point during the conversation, describing the expression as incorrect because the word “water” is generally regarded as an uncountable noun in standard English usage.
He said such errors should be avoided during international media engagements.
Shaibu also questioned how a government spokesman appearing on a global television network could make what he considered basic language mistakes while presenting arguments.
He said interviews conducted on international media platforms often attract wide audiences and therefore require careful communication.
According to him, public officials should ensure their statements are clear and properly structured.
The appearance on Al Jazeera has remained a topic of discussion among viewers who watched the exchange between Bwala and Hasan. Some of the circulating clips show moments when the presenter challenged the spokesman’s responses during the conversation.
Hasan is widely known for conducting detailed interviews that involve fact-checking and close questioning of guests.
Shaibu said his remarks were directed at the language used during the interview rather than the broader political debate that formed part of the programme.
He said that public communication, especially when delivered on international platforms, should meet acceptable standards of clarity and accuracy.
Shaibu later addressed the matter on social media, stating that attention should also be given to basic language usage in public discourse.
He wrote on X that discussions about arguments and facts should begin with proper expression, saying, “It is always risky when a man who cannot count water begins to count his arguments as facts.”See_More…
