According to a report by Al-Jazeera on Friday, March 6, 2026, as tensions between Hezbollah and Israel rise, Israeli warplanes hit various sites in Lebanon last night in what eyewitnesses said was the most intense bombing in recent days.
Locals around Lebanon, and especially in and around Beirut, the capital, reported a string of loud explosions. Over the course of the night, witnesses tracking the strikes documented at least eleven air raids in the city’s southern suburbs alone.
As Israeli aeroplanes attacked locations thought to be linked to Hezbollah’s activities, several of the explosions were said to have been incredibly loud, sending shockwaves through neighbouring districts.
The continuous conflict has typically targeted the southern neighbourhoods of Beirut, which are widely believed to be a bastion of Hezbollah.
Residents reported feeling anxious as the bombardment persisted throughout the night, and large plumes of smoke were visible rising over the area after several attacks. The Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon, close to the Syrian border, was another target of Israeli attacks outside of the city.
Because of its closeness to critical cross-border supply routes, the area has long been considered strategically essential. Israeli military actions have recently intensified, and reports indicate that air strikes have been carried out over southern Lebanon.
The shelling occurred in many locations that had already been ordered to evacuate by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF). Because of continuing operations against Hezbollah locations, the Israeli military has asked people in some southern Lebanon neighbourhoods to evacuate their houses.
Hezbollah has issued a warning to the people of northern Israel, close to the border with Lebanon, which could lead to an escalation of tensions.
The Hebrew-language message was posted on one of the group’s Telegram channels and warned Israeli citizens residing near the border to leave their homes and neighbourhoods within around 3 miles (or 5 km) of the Lebanese border.
The fact that Hezbollah targeted northern Israeli towns with the warning raises the possibility that the group is getting ready for reprisal strikes or increased military presence in the region.See_More…
