The Companion has congratulated Ridwan Olawale Tunji Disu on his appointment as Acting Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a press statement on Thursday, and signed by its Amir, Imam Nojim Jimoh, the organisation described the appointment as a deserved recognition of Disu’s more than 30 years of service in the Nigeria Police Force.

The group said it had followed his career since he joined the police in 1992, noting that his rise reflects professionalism, discipline and commitment to the rule of law.

According to the statement, Disu’s conduct is rooted in a strong Islamic upbringing and values of honesty, justice and service.

“Disu’s career serves as a shining example of how foundational values of honesty, justice, and service to humanity can translate into exceptional public leadership,” it stated.

The organisation urged the Acting IGP to be mindful of the responsibilities of his office, especially as the country prepares for general elections and continues to grapple with security challenges.

“Nigeria as the most populous black nation deserves a policing legacy that is efficient, empathetic and technologically advanced,” the group added, praying for divine guidance and success in office.
