According to a report by The Times of Israel on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has categorically rejected the idea of holding discussions with the United States, reaffirming that Tehran intends to stay the course with its resistance approach.
During a broadcast carried on state television, Araghchi stated that no communication channels are currently open between Iran and Washington, and there are no plans to initiate any. He stressed that Iran’s position is guided by its principles, noting that agreeing to negotiations under the present circumstances would be interpreted as a sign of surrender.
He further explained that the country’s leadership sees steadfastness as crucial amid the ongoing tensions. In his view, entering talks at this point would not align with Iran’s strategic interests, reinforcing the government’s resolve to continue along its current path.
The foreign minister also commented on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, an essential route for global oil shipments. He clarified that the waterway remains operational but is being controlled in line with Iran’s security priorities.
According to Araghchi, ships associated with nations viewed as adversaries are being restricted from passing through, while vessels from countries considered neutral or friendly are still allowed safe transit. He added that Iranian naval forces are actively working to guarantee the safety of approved maritime traffic.
His remarks reflect the deepening tensions between Tehran and Washington, while also drawing attention to the wider global impact tied to the regulation of movement through one of the most strategically important shipping lanes in the world.
