The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a consequential adjustment to the campaign timeline for the Osun State governorship election following an earlier shift in the election date.
Muhammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee revealed this in a statement on Thursday.
INEC had, on February 26, 2026, released a revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general election, moving the Osun governorship poll forward by one week from August 8 to August 15, 2026.
Consequently, the commission said the final day for political parties to conduct campaigns is now midnight on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in compliance with Section 98(1) of the Electoral Act 2026, which stipulates that campaigns must end 24 hours before election day.
INEC called on political parties, candidates, and other stakeholders to strictly adhere to the revised timeline.
The commission reiterated its commitment to delivering free, fair, credible, and inclusive elections.
