Dino Melaye, a leading figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former senator representing Kogi West, has declared that the opposition coalition remains undeterred by the ruling party.
Melaye made this known in a video posted on his verified X account on Sunday, March 1, 2026. In the clip, he dismissed suggestions that the opposition should feel intimidated, despite the dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the state level.
Referring to the 2023 presidential election, Melaye pointed out that Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State, secured victories in six states governed by the APC at the time. He also noted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar won in eight states where APC governors were in office.
Questioning the ruling party’s confidence, Melaye argued that having a large number of governors does not automatically translate into electoral success. He further cited the outcome of the National Assembly elections, claiming that out of 12 sitting governors who contested for Senate seats, only three emerged victorious.
His remarks were aimed at reinforcing the position that the opposition alliance is prepared to challenge the ruling party and is not intimidated by its numerical strength.See_More…
