By Victor Nwachukwu

The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Imo says it has successfully carried out the campaign against crime, cultism and other vices in 88 schools in the state.

A former Chairman of the group, Mr Chima Chukwunyere, said this during an interactive session with newsmen in Owerri.

Chukwunyere spoke on the major projects being executed by the committee towards sanitising the youths and schools in Imo.

He said that PCRC introduced the anti-cultism campaign in October 2016

He commended  traditional rulers, community and religious leaders for  their support during the campaigns.

He said that the group would dedicate its 89th and 90th school outings to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to appreciate the gallantry of the force in tackling insecurity in the country.

Chukwunyere called for mandatory drug tests for new school intakes, as a measure to curb drug abuse among students.

He also urged the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to slash the cost of rehabilitation for drug  addicts as the world marks the UN Drug Abuse Day. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
