If you can’t fix Nigeria, sell it to China or Ghana – Angry man tells Tinubu

A Nigeria man has sparked reactions online after sending a bold message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. According to him, if the government can’t fix the country, it should be sold to China or Ghana, pointing to the skyrocketing cost of cooking gas.

The man shared his frustration on X (formerly Twitter) in a post by user @oyindamola. He complained about the rising cost of living and how difficult it has become for ordinary Nigerians to survive.

“Even 1kg of gas is now ₦2,000,” he said. “I beg you in the name of God, if you can’t control Nigeria again, please sell it to China or Ghana so we can be under another country. You just want to turn the country into something else, and we the poor are the ones suffering.”

He also accused the government of living in comfort while citizens face hardship. The man mentioned the reported dispute between businessman Aliko Dangote, claiming it has affected gas prices.

“Because there is an issue between you and Dangote, you decided to increase the price of gas. If you can’t control the country, please sell it to Gobe, I beg you. Settle your problem with Dangote because it’s affecting us,” he added.

The rise in gas prices began only days ago after supply was disrupted by a short strike from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN). The strike caused delays in gas loading and movement, creating scarcity. Marketers then raised prices sharply, with 1kg of cooking gas been sold as high as ₦2,000.

... quickly went viral and got many reactions. Some people agreed with him, saying life in Nigeria has become too expensive. Others said his comment about “selling the country” was too much, but they also admitted that things are very hard.

Although his statement was dramatic, it clearly shows how frustrated many Nigerians are about the economy.
