According to an IRNA News Agency report of late Wednesday 25 of February 2026, Masoud Pezeshkian has stressed that unity and social cohesion are critical for safeguarding Iran against what he described as sustained efforts by adversaries to weaken and fragment the nation.
Speaking on Wednesday during a meeting with academics and political, social and cultural activists in Mazandaran Province, the Iranian president said that the primary objective of Iran’s opponents is to generate internal division and erode national stability. The meeting took place as part of his two-day visit to the province, during which he held discussions with local officials and civil society figures.
He cautioned that internal disputes and social discord would only advance hostile agendas, while solidarity among citizens would deny adversaries any opportunity to exert influence. “If we stand together and pursue a common goal, no power will be able to defeat Iran,” he said, signalling his call for collective resolve in the face of external pressure.
Addressing the country’s economic difficulties, Pezeshkian pointed to persistently high inflation, estimated at between 45 and 50 percent, as the outcome of problems that have accumulated over many years. He said that these challenges have been aggravated by longstanding international sanctions which have placed additional strain on the economy and daily life. According to the president, Iran’s enemies seek to exploit these pressures by deepening economic and political difficulties in order to fuel public dissatisfaction and turn segments of society against one another.
Pezeshkian also reflected on what he described as decades-long attempts by foreign powers to dominate Iran, arguing that such efforts have consistently failed due to resistance from the Iranian people. He further said that this history demonstrates the importance of recognizing public support and remaining committed to serving national interests, particularly during periods of hardship.
In concluding remarks, the president called on Iranians to respect differences in opinions and lifestyles, noting that diversity is a natural feature of society. He noted that peaceful coexistence depends on tolerance, dialogue and mutual understanding, adding that unity does not require uniformity. Pezeshkian emphasized that by accepting differences while maintaining a shared sense of purpose, Iranians can strengthen social cohesion and protect the country from attempts to sow division.See_More…
