If U.S Is Your Ally, You Must Show Up During Global Crisis – Tony Blair

According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Sunday, March 08, 2026, Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair highlighted the importance of the U.S.-UK alliance in addressing security challenges in the Middle East, particularly regarding Iran, during a recent interview. Blair stressed that alliances are truly tested during difficult moments, not in times of ease. “Every single time you test an alliance, you never test it when things are easy. You test it when it’s hard,” he said.

Blair referred to requests by the United States to use British bases for refueling operations, underscoring the practical support provided by the United Kingdom in regional conflicts. “They were asking to use our bases to refuel. It’s not like it was in Vietnam, not like the Iraq campaign where we had thousands of British troops,” he explained, highlighting the scale and nature of Britain’s current contributions compared with past military engagements.

He also emphasized the enduring strategic value of the U.S.-UK relationship, regardless of changes in American leadership. “The American relationship matters. It matters particularly today. It’s not a question of whether it’s this president or that president,” Blair said.

Blair concluded by stressing the responsibility that comes with close alliances. “If they are your ally and they are an indispensable cornerstone for your security, you had better show up,” he said, emphasizing the need for active support during critical geopolitical situations.

Blair’s remarks reflect ongoing discussions in London and Washington about coordinating responses to Iranian activities in the region, with particular focus on maintaining strong military and diplomatic collaboration between the United Kingdom and the United States.See_More…
