Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has criticised Senators from the South-East for maintaining what he described as an unsettling silence during the ambassadorial screening of Reno Omokri, a vocal supporter of President Bola Tinubu.
Ejiofor, in a post shared on X on Friday, said the Senators risk losing their seats in the 2027 general elections if they fail to oppose Omokri’s confirmation.
He warned that the political future of the lawmakers would be decided at the polls should they “allow” the former presidential aide to scale through the screening process.
Ejiofor Issues Strong Warning
He wrote: “If Reno Omokri @renoomokri passes this screening, 2027 will be a political judgment day for all Igbo Senators; they must be retired home.”
The lawyer said the outcome of the screening would serve as a test of political courage for the region’s representatives.
According to him, if Omokri is confirmed, voters should be ready to use their ballots to send every South-East Senator “home” during the next election cycle.
Ejiofor added that he would mobilise people in the region to prepare their voter cards, stressing that the 2027 elections would determine whether the Senators deserve another term. He said:
“There is, after all, a threshold to cowardice. Enough, quite frankly, should be enough.”
