‎The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has partnered with the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Programme (RoLAC) to enhance the capacity of its officers through a data-focused training programme aimed at improving institutional performance.

‎The two-day capacity-building workshop, funded by the European Union, was held in Abuja and centred on the implementation of the Commission’s Strategic Action Plan (SAP), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and data collection templates for efficient documentation and reporting.

‎Declaring the workshop open, the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Oche A. Godwin, underscored the centrality of data to governance, noting that it serves as the foundation for informed decision-making and accountability.

‎According to him, the Commission must build the capacity to collect, manage, analyse, and evaluate data effectively — describing this not as a mere technical requirement but a strategic imperative in achieving ICPC’s anti-corruption mandate.

‎He added that the training would enhance operational efficiency, transparency, and institutional impact in key areas such as investigative tracking, preventive programme assessment, and performance reporting.

‎Mr. Oche Godwin, in a presentation on the ICPC Strategic Action Plan (2024–2028), highlighted planning, risk assessment, and adaptive strategies as key drivers of institutional success. He stressed that the value of any plan lies in effective implementation.

‎Also, Mr. Hilary Zira, who presented a paper titled Practicalizing the Annual Work Plan, linked the plan to SAP implementation, emphasizing its role in aligning departmental goals with measurable institutional outcomes.

‎In his remarks, RoLAC Component Lead, Dr. Emmanuel Uche, highlighted proper documentation as essential for accountability, institutional learning, and performance measurement.

‎The event featured practical sessions on data entry, reporting templates, and KPI measurement, allowing participants to translate theoretical concepts into practice.
