A resident of Katampe, Abuja, Sani Yusuf, has shared his ordeal following the armed robbery attack that led to the death of Arise TV News Anchor, Reporter, and Producer, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu.
Yusuf, who resides in the same block where the tragic incident occurred, revealed that he was the first victim of the assailants.
He made this known in response to a post on X (formerly Twitter), describing the experience as something no one should ever have to endure.
“This happened at the block I live in. I was the first victim to be attacked. Right in the heart of Abuja, man. I don’t wish anyone the things I witnessed. When I’m ready, I’ll share details. For now, may the souls of the departed find peace,” Yusuf wrote while reacting to a post about Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu.
The robbery incident
The robbery, which took place in the early hours of the day, is being investigated by the Nigeria Police. The tragic death of Maduagwu has shocked the media industry and the nation at large, with tributes pouring in from colleagues, friends, and viewers.

Authorities have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators and strengthen security in the Katampe area.

It was earlier reported that a recent tweet the deceased made had gone viral after her death. In the tweet, she had passionately prayed that Nigeria never happens to her or her loved ones.
