A Nigerian woman, Ladi Abba, has shared details of a dramatic confrontation with her late brother’s in-laws over money she said she sent for cancer treatment but later retrieved to fund burial arrangements.
Speaking during a programme on Brekete Family, Ladi recounted how tensions escalated after her brother’s wife passed away despite efforts to secure medical care. According to her, she had transferred a substantial sum into the deceased woman’s bank account to cover the cost of a cancer operation.
After the death, Ladi said she approached the woman’s family to inquire about how much of the money had been spent. She claimed the deceased’s maternal brother informed her that only 200,000 naira had been used from the funds she provided.
Faced with mounting burial expenses — including transportation to Edo State, purchase of a coffin and other logistics — Ladi said her family was solely responsible for the costs. She therefore asked that the unused balance be returned to assist with the funeral arrangements.
However, she alleged that the in-laws refused, insisting the money should remain with them. What followed, she said, was a heated disagreement that culminated in her taking drastic action.
“I Sent Money For Her Operation, They Only Used 200,000 And I Forcefully Collected The ATM & PIN,” Ladi said during the broadcast, maintaining that she believed she was justified because the money originated from her and not from the deceased’s relatives.
She explained that she eventually withdrew the remaining funds and used them to offset burial expenses, including transport to Edo.See_More…
