On Saturday, March 28, 2026, the former governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate shared via his X handle that he contributed thirty million naira (N30m) to the school to support its growth and advancement. He also emphasized that his support has been ongoing for over a decade.
Photos shared by Obi show him handing over the cheque to university officials, staff, and students, who were visibly thrilled by the unexpected gift.
