Popular Nigerian Afro singer, Tiwatope Savage Balogun, also known as Tiwa Savage, has debunked viral reports claiming that ‘she intentionally released her sex tape to be relevant’.
Recall that the singer’s sex tape went viral on social media in 2021, after she refused to pay some amount of money to the blackmailer.
Following the leaked video, the female singer was heavily criticised and blamed across social media platforms for refusing to be extorted.
Speaking in a recent interview with American radio station Hot 97, she discussed the trauma she endured, saying that she was the victim but people bashed her over the video.
She said: “I was bashed for my sex video. Lot of people think I was just trying to get sympathy. Even people with platforms were quite horrible and blamed me.
“I don’t know how they couldn’t see me as the victim in this. They said I did it to be relevant. If I were doing that, I would’ve been intentional about it. I would have used better lighting, lingerie, and my facial expressions would have been on point.”
