Asiwaju for All Group, in collaboration with the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has donated 1,200 bags of 25kg rice to vulnerable christian communities across Kebbi.

The Zamfara Chairman of the group,  Muhammad Umar, made this known while distributing the items at Saint Luke Anglican Church in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.

He added that the items, equivalent to one trailer-load of rice, were presented under the humanitarian initiative led by Dr Aminu Sani-Jaji, the National Leader of Asiwaju for All, and spearheaded by the First Lady.

He said the consignment would be delivered to Christian communities in Yauri and Ngaski Local Government Areas for distribution to the most vulnerable persons in the communities.

“ We are grateful to the First Lady for this annual gesture, especially to our Christian brothers and sisters.

” The support is timely and aimed at cushioning the hardship faced by the vulnerable,” Umar said.

Speaking in behalf of the beneficiaries, Rev. Ibrahim Magaji of Ngaski LGA, expressed appreciation to the First Lady for the intervention.

“ We are happy with the gesture and sincerely thank the First Lady. We assure her that the items will be distributed judiciously and strictly for the purpose they are meant to serve, alleviating hardship among the vulnerable,” he said.

In his remarks, Mr Tanko Sulaiman, National Organising Secretary of the Northern Nigeria Christian Progressive Forum, said although the items arrived after the Christmas and New Year celebrations, stakeholders were confident in the leadership overseeing the distribution.

“ We regret that the gesture did not arrive earlier, but we are confident that the leadership will ensure the items reach the intended beneficiaries,” Sulaiman said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
