Gov Eno Dumps PDP, Joins APC Over Tinubu Support

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has explained his decision to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he could not continue to support President Bola Tinubu “in the dark.”

Speaking in an interview on Arise Television on Friday, Eno said his defection was driven by conviction that Tinubu’s leadership is yielding positive results.

“I’m convinced that President Tinubu is doing very well,” he said. “While I appreciate the PDP for providing the platform that enabled me to become governor, the constitution gives room for anyone to switch parties if they choose.”

The governor added that he preferred to make his political stance open rather than maintain dual loyalties.

“I couldn’t say I’m in one party during the day and then go to Aso Rock at night to pledge my loyalty. It’s best to let people know where I stand. When comparing President Tinubu with others, I naturally prefer him,” he stated.
