‎Gov. Umaru Bago of Niger has inaugurated commissioners, chairmen and vice chairmen of local government councils, as well as board members.

‎Bago, during the inauguration in Minna on Friday, said the combined ceremony was aimed at reinforcing unity and progress across the state.

‎He said the inauguration marked the unveiling of the second phase of the “New Niger” Agenda and urged the appointees to prioritise the delivery of the administration’s vision.

‎“In the history of Niger, progress is not always given; it must be deliberate.

‎“Today, we choose you based on your background and pedigree because I know you will contribute to our mission and vision for a New Niger,” he said.

‎He added that the administration aimed to build a sustainable Niger where children enjoy their rights, and citizens have access to quality healthcare.

‎The governor emphasised the need for tolerance, community policing, social justice, equality and the protection of children from abduction.

‎According to him, in the New Niger, we intend to reorganise the mining sector, reintegrate out-of-school children into education, eradicate almajiri system and strengthen security across the state.

‎Earlier in his welcome address, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, Secretary to the Niger state Government, described the inauguration as a milestone in the collective effort to build a stronger state.

‎“The inauguration of this leadership is a renewal of commitment to serve the people with diligence, sincerity, and purpose.

‎“All appointees have undergone nomination, screening, and confirmation, and participated in a comprehensive retreat to align with the collective vision and clearly defined expectations,” he said.

‎He added that the success of the New Niger would depend on how effectively the appointees execute their responsibilities and urged them to settle down quickly and deliver on their mandate.

‎The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Chief Justice of the state, Halima Abdulmalik, represented by Justice Maimuna Abubakar of High Court 6, administered the oath of allegiance to the appointees.(NAN)
