In a powerful call to action, the Ife Progressive Union (IPU) has urged all Yorubas, both at home and abroad, to support the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi, in his quest to unite the Yoruba nation and bring peace and development to Nigeria.
Speaking at the IPU’s end-of-year programme in Ilorin, the President Chief Alimi Oyediran praised the Ooni’s efforts, describing his vision for peace, unity, and development as “laudable and in good faith”.
Chief Oyediran emphasized the need for unity and vigilance in the face of insecurity and economic challenges, calling on Yorubas and Nigerians to support government agencies in achieving positive results.
The IPU president also commended the establishment of a satellite campus of Ojaja University in Ile Ife, the cradle of the Yoruba nation, and urged all Yorubas to contribute to the development of their ancestral homeland.
He emphasized that Ile Ife belongs to all Yorubas, and encouraged those in the diaspora to return and play their part in its growth and development.
The event was well-attended by dignitaries, including the Vice President of the Union, Prince M A Sijuade, the General Secretary, Elder Joseph Folorunso Olafare, Alhaji Idris Alooma, GM of UNILORIN FM radio station, among others. The gathering prayed for the growth and development of Ile Ife, Ilorin city, and Nigeria as a whole.
Chief Oyediran said that the IPU’s call to action underscores the importance of unity and collective effort in achieving peace and development in Nigeria. As the nation grapples with security and economic challenges, the Ooni of Ife’s vision for a united Yoruba nation offers a beacon of hope for a brighter future.
