Google has released its 2025 Year in Search report, revealing the Nigerian personalities that attracted the highest online interest over the past year.
The report, published in December, offers insights into how Nigerians engaged with major events and public figures across politics, entertainment, sports, and popular culture, based on search trends recorded throughout 2025.
Topping the list is Senator Natasha Akpoti, who emerged as the most searched Nigerian personality of the year. Her position reflects heightened public attention to political developments and key national conversations during the period.
The rankings highlight Nigerians’ broad interests, cutting across governance, music, film, sports, social media influence, and lifestyle, while also underscoring the figures that dominated public discourse both online and offline.
Footballer Eberechi Eze placed second on the list, followed by Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, whose political activities generated significant search interest. Actress Chika Ike and music star Mr Eazi also featured prominently among the top five.
Filmmaker Kemi Adetiba ranked sixth, while Ajibola Elizabeth and celebrity chef Hilda Baci followed, reflecting sustained interest in film, fashion, and lifestyle content. Social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM) and actress Priscilla Ojo completed the top 10.
Google’s Year in Search report is compiled from aggregated, anonymised search data and provides a snapshot of the topics and personalities that shaped public curiosity in Nigeria over the year.
