“God help me, God protect my life”: Soldier left alone in the bush cries out

A stranded Nigerian soldier has cried to God for help and protection after his colleagues reportedly fled and left him alone in the bush.

The viral video, shared widely on social media, showed the soldier walking through the thick bush as he prayed aloud for safety and strength.

Soldier laments ordeal in the bush

The distressed soldier explained that he had suffered greatly since he was abandoned. He said: “I’ve suffered a lot. I’m trying, save my life, I’m the only one in the bush. The remaining soldiers have run leave me. God help me. God protect my life.”

His emotional plea has stirred compassion nationwide, with many Nigerians praying for his safety and asking questions about the rising insecurity.

Nigerians react with concern and frustration

Mazi Uche wrote: “Heartbreaking. What is really happening in this country? This country is fast becoming an ungoverned space.”

Eze Victor said: “The next thing, they will start punishing soldiers that take phones to the front. Anything to hide the incompetence of this government.”

Another user, 9jacontrol, commented: “The Nigerian army needs help. The Nigerian citizens need help. Guess who doesn’t? The Nigerian politicians.”

Chazak Magen added: “This is no longer getting out of hand, it’s already out of hand. This is the lowest point for that country.”

Babatunde Oyeyemi said: “Tell me why these soldiers won’t be disoriented. A Brigadier General was killed and not even a whimper from the government. Soldiers are killed in their hundreds but no empathy from GCON. Instead, they are consumed with politicking against 2027. Nigerian lives matter too.”
