Geoffrey Uche Nnaji resigns as minister amid certificate forgery allegations 

Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Geoffrey Uche Nnaji has resigned amid allegations of certificate forgery.

This comes after he was accused of submitting forged certificates from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

However, the university’s management has  denied issuing him a degree certificate, despite his claims of graduating in 1985.

An investigation by Premium Times revealed that Nnaji did not complete his university education and that both the bachelor’s degree and NYSC certificates he presented were forged.

His resignation was confirmed by the presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga on October 7, 2025 via a post on the micro blogging platform X (formerly Twitter).

Geoffrey Uche Nnaji cited relentless blackmail from political opponents and his resignation letter has been accepted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Furthermore, the President expressed gratitude to him for his service and wished him well in his future endeavors.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following some allegations against him.

Nnaji said he has been a target of blackmail by political opponents.President Tinubu thanked him for his service and wished him well in future endeavours.
