Funeral Set For Anthony Joshua’s Friends After Nigeria Crash

The Janaza (funeral) prayer for Sina Ghami and Abdul Latif “Latz” Ayodele, close friends of boxing star Anthony Joshua, is scheduled for Sunday, January 4, 2026, in London.

The service will begin at 10 a.m. at the London Central Mosque, 146 Park Road, London NW8 7RG, the Boxing King Media announced on Saturday, offering condolences to the families.

Ghami, Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, and Ayodele, his personal trainer, died in a road accident in Nigeria on December 29, 2025. Joshua survived the crash with minor injuries.

The accident occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in the Makun area of Ogun State when the Lexus SUV carrying Joshua collided with a stationary truck, killing both Ghami and Ayodele at the scene.

The bodies were repatriated to the United Kingdom ahead of the funeral, allowing family, friends, and the boxing community to pay their final respects.

Boxing King Media expressed sympathy in their statement, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones.”

The tragedy has deeply affected Joshua and his team, highlighting the close bond he shared with his late coaches.

The London service is expected to draw members of the UK and international boxing community, alongside relatives and friends of the deceased.

Funeral arrangements provide a chance for attendees to honour the lives and contributions of Ghami and Ayodele to Joshua’s career.

The ceremony marks the final farewell for the two men whose deaths were widely mourned across the boxing world.
