Fubara Wins Vote of Confidence from Eneka People

River State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara

Kinsmen of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, have endorsed Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced on Tuesday during the 2025 Eneka Day Celebration held at State Primary School One, Eneka, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state. The event was themed “Unity: Our Strength for Progress.”

Speaking on behalf of the Eneka clan, where Wike hails from, community leaders said political authority in the state rests solely with Governor Fubara, noting that Wike no longer occupies the state’s highest office.

The endorsement event attracted traditional rulers, community leaders and residents from the 11 communities that make up the Eneka clan.

Chairman of the Eneka Community Development Committee, Lawson Chukwu, reaffirmed the clan’s loyalty to the governor and commended his administration’s development efforts in the area. He appealed for the rehabilitation of internal roads and called for the upgrade of the Eneka traditional stool from second-class to first-class status.

Also speaking, the political leader of the Eneka clan and President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta-Mbata, declared that the people of Eneka recognise Fubara as the only governor of Rivers State. He pledged the clan’s continued support and described its relationship with the governor as stable and enduring.

In his response, Governor Fubara thanked the Eneka people for the endorsement and their show of unity. He assured them that his administration would prioritise the rehabilitation of several deteriorated internal roads, many of which were damaged by heavy-duty trucks during flyover construction.

The governor also directed the Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs to commence the process of upgrading the Eneka traditional stool to first-class status, stressing that peace and unity remain critical to sustainable development
