By Chimezie Godfrey

The Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) has commenced its 2025 Strategic Capacity Development Programme aimed at strengthening institutional effectiveness and enhancing data-driven governance.

The two-day programme, designed to improve performance, transparency and accountability across the Commission’s operations, brings together staff members for intensive engagement on modern analytical frameworks and performance management strategies.

Declaring the programme open, the outgoing Chairman of the Commission, Victor Muruako, reaffirmed his commitment to continuous professional development and organisational growth.

He stressed that strengthening institutional systems and embedding evidence-based decision-making are critical to the Commission’s statutory mandate of promoting fiscal discipline and sustainable economic management.

According to him, enhancing analytical competence within the workforce would improve regulatory oversight and deepen transparency in public financial management.

Muruako also informed staff of assurances received from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, who he said expressed strong support for the Commission’s role in stabilising Nigeria’s economy.

As part of the proceedings, he formally presented Barr. Charles Chukwuemeka Abana, the Commission’s most senior Director and Director of Legal Investigation and Enforcement, to oversee the affairs of the Commission in an interim capacity pending further directives by the Federal Government.

The programme, facilitated by Rangers Business Solution Ltd., is being held at Freshland Hotel Ltd in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The Commission said the initiative underscores its commitment to building a skilled workforce capable of sustaining excellence, integrity and professionalism in fiscal governance.
