France Selects University of Ilorin for Multimillion Naira French Resource Centre

In recognition of its growing reputation as a hub of academic excellence, the University of Ilorin has been selected by the French Government to host a multimillion naira French Resource Centre.

 

The development was disclosed in an official letter signed by the Attaché for Education and Linguistic Cooperation at the French Embassy in Nigeria, Magaty Losanga, and addressed to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN.

 

According to the letter, the proposed Centre will offer specialised training for academic staff while enhancing access to both digital and physical pedagogical resources.

 

The Centre is also expected to support student certification and improve language proficiency, thereby boosting their academic and professional prospects. It will further strengthen ties with professional sectors by ensuring that beneficiaries acquire language skills relevant to modern employability demands.

 

Speaking on the development, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Ibrahim Abdulganiyu Jawondo, expressed delight over the initiative, describing it as a major milestone during his tenure.

 

He commended the French Government for selecting the University of Ilorin and assured that the institution would maximise the opportunities provided by the Centre.

 

Prof. Jawondo confirmed that the facility would be housed within the Faculty of Arts, adding that it would enhance service delivery and help the University sustain its leadership position at regional, national, and global levels.
