A Nigerian lady, who claimed to be a schoolmate of the late Ochanya Elizabeth Ogbanje, has moved many to tears on TikTok after recounting her personal experience with the teenage girl whose death was linked to prolonged abuse.
Painful Memories Resurface on TikTok
The young lady, identified on TikTok as @fynene1, opened up in an emotional video where she shared heartbreaking details about her time with Ochanya during their secondary school days.
According to her, both of them attended the same school and lived under the care of the same guardian.
She revealed that Ochanya was quiet, timid, and often ill, spending most of her time at the school’s sick bay.
“She Was Often Punished for Bed-Wetting”
The lady recalled that Ochanya was frequently punished by senior students for “bed-wetting,” unaware that she was actually suffering from a deeper issue of abuse.
She explained that Ochanya joined the school when she was in SS2 and sadly passed away the following year while she herself was in SS3.
Connection to a Key Suspect in the Case
In her narration, the lady also mentioned Mr. Andrew Obuja, one of the major suspects in Ochanya’s abuse case.
She claimed that two of his daughters attended the same school, with one reportedly being Ochanya’s classmate.
She noted that Ochanya and the suspect’s daughters often spent time together, but no one suspected any foul play until news of the tragic incident surfaced.
Shared Guardian and Cruel Nicknames
Recounting her experience, the TikTok user said she and Ochanya were under the supervision of a woman who ran a small shop within the school premises.
The guardian oversaw their welfare and made them share meals from one large plate.
She also revealed that some students mocked Ochanya, calling her “Obanje”—a nickname she said originated from the guardian’s son.
Despite the teasing, Ochanya never confided in anyone about her struggles.
“Justice for Ochanya” — Former Schoolmate Cries Out
The lady described one haunting memory from her SS3 days when she saw several cars, including the principal’s, parked around the school’s sick bay.
That, she said, was the day she realized the extent of what Ochanya had been enduring.
Expressing her pain, she said:
“Justice for Ochanya. She was my junior in secondary school. I don’t even like watching her videos. We had the same guardian. I don’t have the platform I need for this story but Ochanya was my jnr in secondary school we had the same guardian.”
Her post has stirred emotional reactions online, with many social media users mourning the late Ochanya and calling for justice to be fully served.
