The Director-General of the Friends of Ogiame Organisation (FOOG) has urged Nigerians to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, saying the administration’s ongoing economic and governance reforms are laying the foundation for long-term national development.
The call was made on Thursday during a conference and women empowerment programme organised by FOOG for women from the Warri Federal Constituency at Prest Royal Centre, Slaughter Road, Ugbuwangue, Warri, Delta State.
Addressing participants, the FOOG Director-General said the event was designed not only to mobilise political support for the Renewed Hope Agenda but also to encourage citizens to embrace continuity, stability and national development.
“This gathering is not just political; it is about the future of our nation. It is about continuity, stability, and building on the solid foundation being laid by our able President,” the Director-General said.
He maintained that President Tinubu had taken difficult but necessary decisions to reposition Nigeria’s economy, arguing that reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market were aimed at correcting long-standing structural challenges.
According to him, the reforms have improved transparency in the financial system, boosted investor confidence and increased government revenue, resulting in higher allocations to states for development projects.
The FOOG official also credited the administration with advancing infrastructure development across the road, rail and energy sectors, while commending efforts to strengthen local government autonomy to deepen grassroots governance.
He further highlighted federal interventions targeted at supporting small businesses, expanding food production, improving access to education and scholarships, strengthening healthcare delivery, promoting youth entrepreneurship and attracting foreign investment into Nigeria.
“The journey of reforms is never easy after decades of mismanagement of the country’s resources, but President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated the will to confront Nigeria’s toughest challenges head-on,” he said.
He added that the administration’s tax reforms were encouraging compliance and improving revenue generation, while programmes designed to cushion the impact of economic reforms on vulnerable Nigerians were gradually taking effect.
Describing President Tinubu as an experienced leader with the courage to implement difficult policies, the Director-General said the country was witnessing “foundational changes that will yield lasting and enduring benefits to the good citizens of this country.”
He declared FOOG’s support for the President’s second-term bid, urging members and supporters to mobilise peacefully and responsibly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“At FOOG, we believe in moving forward. We believe in continuity. We believe in stability. We believe in a better Nigeria. That is why we stand firmly in support of a second term for President Tinubu,” he stated.
The Director-General also expressed appreciation to the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR; Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe; and Hon. Daniel Reyenieju for their support towards the organisation and the successful hosting of the women empowerment programme.
The event attracted traditional leaders, community stakeholders, political supporters, women groups and members of FOOG from across the Warri Federal Constituency.
