First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to take collective responsibility for environmental protection by embracing cleanliness, renewable energy and sustainable practices. She made the appeal in a message issued in Abuja on Monday to mark the 2026 International Day of Clean Energy.
Speaking on the theme, “Clean Energy for People and Planet,” Tinubu said the observance underscores the shared duty of citizens to safeguard the environment for present and future generations. She urged Nigerians to adopt renewable energy and sustainable technologies as critical tools for healthy living and environmental preservation.
“I urge us all to embrace renewable energy and sustainable technologies as an essential foundation for survival, healthy living and environmental stewardship,” she said, calling for collective action to build a greener and healthier planet.
The International Day of Clean Energy is observed annually on January 26, following its proclamation by the United Nations General Assembly. The day aims to promote awareness and action toward a just and inclusive global transition to clean energy for the benefit of people and the environment.
