A staff member of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (now Nigerian Revenue Service), identified as Okon, has accused the agency of selective victimisation after she was suspended over an alleged forged NYSC exclusion letter. She says she was lawfully employed in 2018 and her appointment was confirmed in 2019 after due security checks. According to her, she worked for about five years before the sudden suspension in December 2022.
Okon explains that several staff were suspended over similar allegations, but others have since been recalled while she remains at home. She describes the situation as “administrative recklessness” and insists she is being singled out. In her view, if the allegation was genuine, clear disciplinary procedures should have been concluded long before now.
She narrates that her exclusion certificate is genuine and has been used for employment in other organisations since 2012. She argues that if there was any problem with the document, it should have been detected much earlier. The decision to act after years of service, she says, raises questions about motive and fairness.
Okon said: “I was employed by Federal Inland Revenue in 2018 and confirmed in 2019 after DSS did the background checks. We were many that they suspended over alleged forged NYSC exclusion letters, but they have reinstated others. I am the only one they have not reinstated. I see it as selective victimisation and administrative recklessness.”See_More…
