Fintiri presents N583bn 2026 budget proposal to Adamawa Assembly

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has presented a budget proposal of over N583 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.

The governor presented the proposal Thursday afternoon, reading out a total of N583,331,380,496, of which 64.07 percent is for capital spending, amounting to N373,690,964,682; and 35.93 percent recurrent expenditure, that amounts to N209,640,964,682.

The governor indicated that a huge chunk of the budget, over N120 billion, is for the state Ministry of Works and Energy Development to continue the administration’s road and other projects around the capital, Yola, and other parts of the state.

According to the governor, education will have the next biggest share of the budget, trailing the workshop ministry distantly with slightly over N40 billion share of the budget, while health delivery is allocated N31.9 billion.

The governor thanked the House of Assembly for the cooperation he enjoyed from members across party lines, and appealed for speedy passage of the 2026 fiscal bill.

Responding, Speaker of the Assembly, Bathiya Wesley, thumbed up the executive over how it implemented the budget of the outgoing year.

The Speaker said the Assembly would go to work right away to ensure that the 2026 budget proposal is given speedy attention and passed accordingly.
